Frequently Asked Questions
When does the 2025 Jump For Joy 100 Challenge start?
The 2025 Jump For Joy challenge begins on Saturday, February 28th 2026 and runs for 100 consecutive days, ending on Sunday, June 7th.
Who can join the challenge?
Anyone can join! If you want to learn how to jump rope, regardless of age or ability, we are here to help and encourage you. Experienced jumpers are also welcome to stay accountable, be part of an uplifting community, improve their skills and fitness level, and inspire newcomers.
We also welcome those in the flow rope community, as we encourage new jumpers to have non-jump days. Flow rope is a great way to keep the rope swinging while giving your legs a rest.
How do I join the challenge?
The challenge is hosted entirely on Instagram, so the first step is making sure you have an Instagram account and follow @jumpforjoy100. Once you’re set up, simply send a direct message to Peta at @jumpforjoy100 and we’ll guide you through the next steps.
🌱 If you’re just starting out (jumping for 3 months or less):
You’ll be invited to join our private Instagram support group. This is a safe, encouraging space where you can:
Share your progress and daily wins
Connect with other beginners who are on the same journey
Ask questions and get advice whenever you feel stuck
Find plenty of tips, encouragement, and motivation to keep going
This group is designed to give you the confidence and community you need while you’re building your foundation.
🔥 If you’re more experienced (jumping for over 3 months):
Once you’ve got the basics down and can land a few tricks, you’ll be highlighted on our main Instagram page @jumpforjoy100. This is where we celebrate our community of jumpers and showcase participants throughout the challenge.
To make the most of it:
Tag @jumpforjoy100 in your posts, reels, and stories so we can see your progress and feature you
Engage with the community by liking, commenting, and cheering on other participants
Share your own journey to inspire others and show what’s possible with consistency and practice
Whether you’re brand new or already skilled, this challenge is all about supporting each other, having fun, and pushing yourself to new levels. Everyone is welcome, and the more you interact, the more rewarding the experience will be!
Do I need to post a video publicly every day?
The choice is always yours! However, based on past challenges, those who regularly posted videos of their daily sessions improved the most and became integral community members. Posting videos (publicly or privately in our beginners private chat group) allows others to encourage you, provide helpful technique tips, and keep you accountable.
If posting publicly on Instagram, please tag @jumpforjoy100 so we can follow your journey!
Can I join the challenge after the official start date?
Yes! We had many participants join throughout the 100 days last year—the more, the merrier. While completing the full 100 days is ideal, jumping for even 30 days can be life-changing! We have set up both 100 Day & 30 Day Trackers as free downloads here.
What gear do I need to participate in the challenge?
At a basic level, you just need:
A jump rope (more on ropes below)
Comfortable, supportive shoes
A body!
Additional useful items:
Workout mat (reduces joint impact) – Recommended suppliers: Miramat, Dope Ropes, Elevate Ropes, and CrossRopes.
A phone to film yourself – Peta uses an iPhone 15 Pro.
A tripod for filming – Recommended options: MagSafe Tripod (portable & lightweight) or Joby Compact Tripod (sturdier design).
A Jump For Joy 100 Tee (XS to XXXL) so you look the part you can purchase here.
A device to play music (if you enjoy working out to music).
Extra Gear for Women:
Supportive sports bra – Peta’s favorite: Panache Power Wired Sports Bra (Black).
Sanitary pads (for initial leakage). Your pelvic floor will improve in a matter of weeks—I promise!
What type of jump rope should I get?
For beginners, beaded ropes are best, as they offer better control and make learning new skills easier. Recommended suppliers:
The Jump Rope Company (Coach Chris)
Alchemist Athletics - (Canadian Based)
Dope Ropes (UK-based)
Elevate Ropes (Netherlands Based)
For an intense cardio and strength workout, consider weighted ropes from Crossrope.
We also recommend trying flow rope, especially on non-jump days. The most extensive selection of flow ropes is available at Slush Ropes.
How do I adjust my rope to the correct length?
Kathy Jumps explains rope length here and jump technique & bounce height here
Coach Chris shows how to adjust your rope here.

Should I jump every day? If not, what should I do on non-jump days?
If you have been jumping consistently without injuries, you can jump daily. However, even experienced jumpers take rest days. Over jumping, especially as a beginner, can cause shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or knee and hip injuries.
We recommend at least 2 non-jump days per week. On these days, you can do flow rope, releases, swings, or other non-jump skills.
Beginner Weekly Plan:
4 Jump Days
2 Non-Jump Days
1 Drill Skills Day
